The tinplate market may fluctuate and rise in February

Looking back at the domestic steel market in January, the overall trend of fluctuations and upward movement was seen. The comprehensive steel price index rose by 151 points, and the national average prices of all hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils rose by 130 and 147 yuan/ton respectively. From the perspective of tinplate fundamentals, the comprehensive price of tinplate raw material substrates rose by 201 yuan/ton month-on-month, the average cost of tin ingots rose by 23,753 yuan/ton month-on-month, and the supply of tinplate fell by 8.45%. Exports continued to grow year-on-year. Looking forward to February, under the support of the staged rebound of the domestic steel market and the cost of raw materials, the tinplate market may fluctuate and rise.

The annual export volume of #tinplate coils increased by 27.57% year-on-year.In December 2022, my country's total export of tinplate was 114,300 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 29.60%.From January to December2022, my country's total export of tinplates totaled 1.7262 million tons, a year-on-year in crease of 27.57%; in December 2022, my country's total exports of chrome -plated sheets totaled 26,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 46.51%. From January to December 2022, my country's chrome-plated sheet exports totaled 416,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22.80%.

On the whole, looking forward to February, the author predicts that the domestic tinplate market may fluctuate and rise under the support of downstream demand and cost support. In terms of raw materials, from the perspective of the ex-factory cost of substrates, some steel mills have already begun to increase, and other steel mills will likely continue to increase their expectations for substrate settlement at the end of the month; in terms of tin ingots, tin ingot suppliers are currently resumed production one after another, and the suspension of inspections has been extended.The supply of tin ingots has declined, and the inventory is gradually being digested. In the short term, tin ingots are still operating within a narrow range. In terms of tinplate supply, the supply will continue to be repaired in February. The maintenance cycle during the Spring Festival this year has been significantly shortened. Orders were received well before the year, and many factories are catching up with orders.
